This is an incredible antique Rockford pocket watch from 1888. It is quite a heavy timepiece, weighing in at 6.2 ounces. It is in fantastic condition at 135 years old!
The USA-made movement is Grade 93, Size 18s, Model 8, 9 Jewels, and is pin lever set. It has a Hunting movement configuration, flat hairspring and has a gilt movement finish. It is not adjusted, nor is it railroad grade. The movement serial number is 314380. It still keeps excellent time!
It has a crisp white dial in exceptional condition! We do not notice any patina, and the Roman numerals and minute track are still very bold. It has a sub second at 6 o'clock with Breguet numerals and is signed Rockford. The blued-steel hour and minute hands are both spade shaped, and a stick second. The 58.7 mm silverode case is in very good condition, and it does show some discoloration consistent with age. It has a very solid glass crystal that does have a slight chip on the side located at 2 o'clock. It has a very subtle detailing around the bezel. It has a tall 18.2 mm crown.
This 135-year-old Rockford pocket watch runs great and is in excellent condition! It will be a nice addition to a personal Rockford or pocket watch collection, or as a gift.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended. Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have. It will be carefully packed.
